We're Halfway There!!

As crazy as the mid-year has gotten, I have some good news. We are half-way through the "Grant Year" !!!!! We will have completed all of our requirements by mid May. So far, we are doing a very good job. We can all think of a thousand things to say that reflect our frustrations--I'd like us each to say soemthing that we are proud of or that we appreciate at this point. For example: I appreciate the fact that the Beginning year writing assessment is finally scored. :) Also, I apppreciate all of my grade level team members, as this year I've relied on them often to give me a hand with curriculum and expectations. Thanks for having my back!

I'm getting ready to start my clases and am looking ofrward to find out more about powerpoint. I was very lucky to have this computer at home over break because I received an email that would not open on my home computer. Luckly, this one had the proper program so I could read the information.

I am just learning about this grant and am very excited to learn more about it. I have used a lot of this equipment in the past and feel lucky we have it. I wish I had more TIME! I like CPS and am just learning more about the 360.

I'm very proud of the work my part of the team is doing. At 5th grade, we are hard at work completing two courses at once for our part of the professional development. It will take some time, but all of our efforts will improve our overall gains with the students. It has been a positive experience thus far! I'm learning how to make more productive use of software, and I'm finding some good resources via the WWW. Thank you HP and ISTE!

I'm glad to be back in the swing of things. I'm thankful for my laptop. I use it everyday and can't imagine not having it on my desk.

I went back to the beginning of the year to read all of the blogs and I must say that you have I am incredibly proud of you! I am lucky to be here at GES to lead such a talented and dedicated staff. I know that this grant has taken a lot of your time, on top of all that I pile onto you. I see the differences in your confidence level growing daily. The students are lucky to have teachers who spend so much time making sure the students are learning. This use of technology has really increased your ability to gain resources for the students. Thank you!

My class had the thrill of a life time during Barack Obama's inauguration. I had the TV on and CNN live streaming on my laptop (shown through the data projector).
And I took pictures to capture the moment.
The Excel class is moving right along. It is halfway completed as of this past weekend.
Our fifth grade team is super. So much collaberation, help, advice, and we even have a few laughs.

It only gets better from here. Even though I live far away, I still read the blogs to see how the grant is going. I am proud of all of you for investing your time and services to make this grant a success. More importantly, you have become better educators in the classroom. I love the positive feel from the blogs! Keep up the awesome work! Miss you all!

I am grateful for the opportunity to have some training in a program that has always confused me. I have really enjoyed my Excel lessons. I also have loved watching my students interest as we have explored websites using the data projector. An activity that would not have been possible without this grant.

I am thankful for so many things this year. Our third grade team is really great. I love the teaming idea because we are able to focus more on one subject area and can spend more time finding materials, sites and teaching in a more effective way than if each of us had to do it on our own. We have some really strong leaders on our team and are getting the common assesssments completed. I do wish we could have more team input, but everyone is so busy after school so it is easier for one person to do it and the others check it.

I am so thankful that this computer gives off heat and keeps me warm during this COLD weather!
No, really, I am thankful for the patience of my grade level team. We are all learning. The two classes we have been taking are just great. I am amazed by the Excel program and all that it can do to make our lives easier, and the other class has had stimulating reading and ideas. We are definitely being challenged to have fun with all of this wonderful technology that we are very privileged to learn about and use.

The students are really enjoying the teachers using the new equipment. The cool thing is that it is no longer a novelty for them anymore. It is no big deal to have part of a lesson presented on the data projector. I have found some really great resources online for teaching reading that I am using in my classroom. I have learned how to make videos on both the laptop and our digital cameras. Our fifth grade team works together well. I felt like a part of the team the first time I met them three years ago.

The technology that we have is awesome. I really like being able to take the students pictures, print them off, and save them to the computer.
